Born 27th April 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wright. He was employed as a farm worker, and joined the Derbyshire Yeomanry, under age, in March 1915. Underwent training at Chatsworth, Durham and Canterbury. He was then transferred to the Durham Light Infantry, and embarked for France in September 1916.
